17 Groups of Hajj Pilgrim Candidates Departed from Syamsudin Noor Airport

BANJARBARU – Syamsudin Noor Airport served the departure of 17th group or the last group of Hajj Pilgrim Candidates 2017 from South Kalimantan on Friday, August 25, 2017 by using Garuda Indonesia with flight number GA 5117 precisely at 07.48 a.m. The first group had already been departed from August 30, 2017.

General Manager of Syamsudin Noor Airport, Handy Heryudhitiawan explained “From the data of departure plan by 5,523 people, the realization of total hajj congregation’s departure is 5,510 people consisting of male pilgrim candidates of 2,452 people and female pilgrim candidates of 3,057 people. The amount has included the group’s assistants and health workers. The luggages transported are 92,087 kg”, he said.

In the previous departure plan, the total number of hajj pilgrim candidates to be departed was 5,523 people consisting of Regular Hajj of South Kalimantan by 3,900 people and from Central Kalimantan by 1,623 people.

He added that the difference between the number of pilgrims candidates who did not depart was 13 people, “the hajj congregations do not depart due to illness and there are two people who died. The most pilgrim candidates who do not depart are from group four to eight”, he added.

For this year, hajj pilgrims were from Banjarmasin, Banjarbaru, Tanah Laut, Hulu Sungai Tengah, Tanah Bumbu, Tapin, Hulu Sungai Utara, Tabalong, Balangan, Kota Baru, Batu Licin, and Central Kalimantan Tengah, namely Palangkaraya.

There were several scheduled hajj departures along with regular flights. Syamsudin Airport Management has utilized the 1st and 2nd floor waiting rooms as a transit point before the hajj pilgrim flight arrived. So far, the operation has run smoothly and has not disrupted regular airline operations.

After successfully organizing departure service or embarkation of Haj pilgrims, Syamsudin Noor Airport will begin to prepare to welcome the return of pilgrims that will begin on September 9 until October 5, 2017. (Communication BDJ)
